Some of the other towns included in our membership area are Broomehill, Cranbrook, Dumbleyung, Gnowangerup, Kojonup, Tambellup, Nyabing, Wagin, and Woodanilling. We are an independent Society, formed in March 2000, but we are not new to Genealogy or to the aims of our society.
Perth Dead Persons' Society
The DPS movement began in Melbourne, Australia in August 1992 when twelve interested people met in the home of Leone Fabre. The Melbourne DPS has grown since those early days, and since April 1994 has met in a local community hall capable of accommodating the fifty or more people who attend each month. After the Melbourne experience, groups soon sprang up in other major capital cities and in each case the DPS members gravitated around a Fidonet BBS which specialised in genealogical conferences and files.
The Geraldton Family History Society Inc
The Geraldton Family History Society Incorporated was formed in 1978 and is a member of The Australasian Federation of Family History Organisations. The group was established to provide help for anyone with genealogy interests in the Midwest Region and not just Geraldton as a whole.
