Hannah MCELWAINE - Hannah McElwaine (b 1842 ARM IRL) came to AUS 1858. She married Michael Curran (b.1825 CLA IRL) @ Campbelltown in 1860. Her father was Teague McElwaine and her mother Nancy Peoples.

John MOON - was transported on 'John Barry' 26 September 1819, and married Sarah McDonald born in the colony 1822. They had 6 children who married into the Dwyer, Kelly, Fahey, Sheil and Eagles families. The Fahey, Sheil, and Eagles families were all settlers of Appin and Campbelltown area.

James MOORE - was a stonemason who came from Ireland. Married Maria Reid 1835 in Tasmania. Came to Sydney late 1830's, then moved to Appin. He built St.Marks Church in 1841, and possibly(?) St.Bedes. There are numerous headstones in both cemteries, and also St.Peters Cemetery, Campbelltown, which bear his mark "J MOORE - APPIN", and are mostly of a "head & shoulders" type of design. 3 of his 8 children were born in Appin, and on their Bapt Cert's James is shown as stonemason, school master and postmaster.He moved to Jamberoo early 1850's, and died there 1856.

Patrick MOORE - convict arrived 20 January 1832 on 'James Patison' and married Mary Ann Tyson, born in the Colony in 1838. They had 10 children who married into district families Mulholland, Eagles, Dwyer, Buckley and Fahey. Patrick died 1889 at Wilton.

George MUCKLE - George was the nephew of John Dickson who brought the first steam engine to NSW. George arrived in 1821 and owned property at Minto. He was still alive in 1843 but seemed to disappear after that. A George Muckle (labourer) died in the Co of Goulburn in 1853. Perhaps he fell on hard times.

MARY NICHOLLS - She gave birth to FRANCIS BOVEY NICHOLLS in 1825 in a poor house at ST. Just in Roseland, Cornwall. I am trying to confirm if she then married a WILLIAM LAWRY in Cornwall, and what became of her son, FRANCIS BOVEY NICHOLLS.

John NORTON - My ggf Irish convict John Norton married Jane Hancy (Hinchey), both of Menangle, at Campbelltown in 1856. Their first child, John (Naughton) was born at Menangle before the family moved to Moreton Park. This is the only information I can find about John Norton from the time of his discharge from Surveyor General's Dept in 1839 until his marriage in 1856. Would welcome advice from anyone with information about Menagle at that time.

PENDERGAST FAMILY - I am connected through the Sarah Jane Pendergast who married John Lynch. Their daughter Margaret Jane married Michael O'Brien jnr. Their daughter Mary Ann married Patrick Sweeney, son of Thomas Sweeney and Mary Gillespie. Patrick is my GGG uncle. Thomas and Mary are my GGG grandparents, through their daughter Bridget who married James Freel, then partnered William Raisbeck. The family lived at Black Creek, - Patrick and Mary Ann moved to Surat in Queensland.

Charles James ROBERTS - Charles and his wife Esther arrived free in Sydney in 1821 as a clerk in the Commissariat Department in initially and then for nearly 5 years at Moreton Bay. His oldest son was born 10 days after their arrival in Sydney. Family were strongly into Public Houses, Politics and Banking. Charles and Esther's grandson Hon C J Roberts CMG MLC JP was Mayor of Sydney in 1879 and a member of the Henry Parkes Cabinet as Postmaster General.

Elizabeth STEPHENSON - I have an interest in the old hotels around 1857 in Campbelltown. I have an ancestor Elizabeth Stephenson who married John Grego in Campbelltown. Elizabeth was a publican of one of the towns hotels. She was a widow when she married so the original lease may be in the first husbands name (name unknown). Does anyone have an interest in historical hotels?

John Patrick Stuart married Elizabeth Isabella Aitken in 1866 at Armidale (she died at Vegetable Creek in 1883) Found 6 children: Isabella, John W R, Mary Gordon, Charles Gordon Grant (my Great Grandfather), James Aitken & Margarita. Where John & Isabella (the mother & father) born in Aust. or in the UK - Scotland? What happened to the children? Mary m. SWEENEY Family - Thomas Sweeney arrived "Regalia" 1826. Tried Fermanagh, native of Sligo. Partnered Mary Gillespie, Arrived, Free with aunts and cousins "Southworth" 1832. Uncles and father convicts (Peter Gillespie "Mangles" 1822, Dominick Gillespie and John Fleming "Asia"1825. Mary known as Mary Sweeney's death certificate states 7 children 2 females deceased. Have found 5 siblings Bridget born 1834 married 1. James Freel, 2.William Raisbeck; Mary born circa 1836 married 1.William Wallace, partnered William Jones Jnr; Catherine born circa 1838 married John Jackson jnr; Patrick born 1841 married Mary Ann Scanlan nee O'Brien; John born 1841 never married, died 1883 at Gunnedah. Am looking for descendants of above and for the two missing siblings.

Elizabeth THOMAS - Elizabeth was convicted in Exeter in 1791 and sentenced to 14 years transportationand was sent on the Bellona arriving in Sydney in 1793. Whilst at sea she gave birth to her first son Joseph and then after arrival to William. Shortly after she was placed with Corporal John Baylis who adopted her illegitimate sons and she produced two more by him.

Edward THOMPSON: married Mary Stewart in Londonderry Ireland and they came to Australia on the ship "Parland" arriving 5th October, 1838. Edward and Mary were apparently brought out by Mr. Wilkinson of Molly Main. Would love to know where Molly Main is in your district and also interested if there is anyone else researching the same family. Edward, Mary and some of their family are buried in the church grounds of St.John's Church, Camden.N.S.W.
