Denise's Social Column

The trip to the State Archives on Sat. 10th Feb. was a great day. Pam & I found proof through an "old will", that we discovered that one of our ancestors, whose grave we have visited and spoken over and cataloged, was in fact a perfect stranger. Oppp's!!??

This March is going to be a very busy one. Firstly, on Sunday, 11th March, is our "Workshop for Beginners" class at the library. Come along and bring a friend - cost $10.

Sat. 17th March, is the Ingleburn Alive Festival and I would appreciate any donations of items to sell and volunteers to man the stall, even if it's just an hour.

Campbelltown Theatre Group is doing a production of "Journey, The Musical Review" and I am reserving 20 tickets for us. If anyone want to go, please see me or contact me on 4625 4946. Show time - Sat. 31st March, 8pm. I will have a price per ticket at the meeting.

Denise.

Fact Sheet 23
Customs House, Sydney.
A customs house in Sydney was established in 1800 when Governor King determined that revenue from imported goods should be collected.
However, only in 1885 Customs House, Sydney was built. It opened in 1887 to commence over 100 years of service as the head office of the Collector of Customs in New South Wales.
It was finally closed down on 15 June 1990. The National Archives office in Sydney holds a number of photographs, plans, and albums of newspaper cuttings which document the changes in Customs House and its place in the growth of Sydney in general.

Genealogy is the only hobby where dead people can really excite you.

I wonder if a "Missing Persons Bulletin" would locate my g-g-grandpa?
